Hey, this year some of our wonderful ladies are looking to generate some community spirit for Christmas to provide much needed support to those less fortunate than ourselves. Working along with the Ken Smollen Christmas Food Appeal, they are asking for donations of non-perishable items, and perhaps one or two more luxury items for children, whatever you can afford to give – for those who cannot afford a Christmas this year. For Example – non perishable items like
Breakfast cereals, tea, sugar, tins of beans, spaghetti hoops, dessert rice, pasta and pasta sauce, boil in the bag rice, packets of soup, or luxury items such as biscuits, chocolate, cream crackers, selection
boxes, Christmas pudding, toiletries, etc, All donations are appreciated.
Items can be dropped off at –
Frank Fitzgerald pub between 8pm and 11pm every day except Wednesday.
The GAA Clubhouse in Castledaly either Monday or Wednesday 7-8
Anyone not able to donate personally we would be happy to pick up.
The last drop off will be Clubhouse Sunday the 15th …
Thank you in advance for any items you can provide.
Anyone who is in need of help with food this Christmas can send a text
to Ken at 085 1432898 and he will help in strictest confidentiality.

Continuing with the goodwill that is associated at this wonderful timeof year, Castledaly GAA once again proudly promote their GOAL Mile 2019 charity fundraiser at Castledaly GAA walking track on December 26th between noon to 2pm, inviting everyone to walk a mile with a smile in aid of those less well off than ourselves, both here at home and abroad where natural disasters have devastated people’s lives and robbed them of the essentials of life, food clothing and shelter.
Please support.

The Walking Track is proving to be its popular self at this time of year, providing a safe and well lit environment for our growing numbers of walking warriors who brave the elements daily to enjoy
their daily fitness exercise. The track is open to all club members.

U20 Championship Semi-Final The Downs 1-08 Castledaly/Rosemount 0-06.
Castledaly/Rosemount bowed out of the Under 20s Championship on Sunday morning last away to The Downs despite representing themselves with their usual high work-rate and determination. GAA matches are decided on scorelines and scores were hard to come by for the amalgamation side. The home team got off to the better start with an early goal from a brief goalmouth scramble . Ben O’Brien had made a last-ditch attempt to save but the umpire judged the ball crossed the line and duly raised the green flag. This goal provided The Downs with a lead for the remainder of the game which Castledaly/Rosemount never eclipsed. With Ben Cox and Dan Heavin accounting for their 0-02 half-time team tally , The Downs registered 1-04 in reply.
After conceding the first few scores in the second half, Castledaly/Rosemount did battle back to narrow the gap to 4 points with Aaron Nugent leading the charge contributing 3 points while Dan Heavin added the fourth. The result was in the balance to the very end as Castledaly/Rosemount went close to poaching a goal near the finish, but it was not enough as the home team sealed their final spot on the scoreline: The Downs 1-08 Castledaly/Rosemount 0-06.

Castledaly/Rosemount Team: Jordan Nugent; Ben O’Brien, Liam O’Neill, Ciaran Maxwell; Mattie Farrell, Cathal Byrne, Adam Turley; Padraig Geoghegan, Lorcan Daly; Matthew Cox, Kevin Stone, Cathal Dolan; Aaron Nugent (0-03, 1 free), Dan Heavin (0-02), Ben Cox (0-01). Subs: Hugh Owens for C. Dolan, Colin Boland for A. Turley.
